  1. Well..I can start with that :).

Maharajas started from like minded young blood all working in a small company called eTouch. This was in 2000, when most of eTouch employees were bachelors, with nothing much to do but play cricket on weekends. We had more than enough players enthusiastic enough to play Married Vs Bachelors series every weekend. It was lots of fun, until people start getting married and bachelors team lost the player count.

Soon, the idea of playing with other teams start to crop up, and somehow I found out about a league called Tennis Ball Cricket. I forced my team players (they were very hesitant initially) to join the league :), which we finally did. I remember we had a discussion one evening what to name it, and this name, "Maharajas", was coined by our then captain, Mr. Ravi Mohan (He's working at Intuit right now and very seldom comes to play :).

That's how Maharajas was born !!!

Few of original players who are still playing:
    Niloy
    Manish
    Amit Chauhan
    Abhishek
    Himanshu
    Naga

Rajesh (initially from Monarchs, the second spin off team from eTouch)
Aizaz (He too came from Monarchs)

Anyone else care to add anything more ! :)

  3. A few memories of days gone by:-

    1) Best batting display - we scored 150 odd for 2 or 3 wickets with Niloy and Shankar (might be wrong on the name here) getting a near 100 run partnership. The opponents were just waiting for the 20 overs to finish.

    2) Best victory - Against Yorkers (one of the best TCA teams), they were literally in shock at our bowling attack and expected us to win the tournament after that. Of course, as is our habit, we lost the next knockout game.

    3) Friday strategy session: - Believe it or not, we used to meet at the eTouch office on Friday evening to discuss strategy for the game. Players were assigned to look at opponent's bowling/batting and identify their strengths and key players. Some 'smart' strategies:-
    a) The weaker fielders should act injured the moment the first shot came to them and then our fast 12th man can come in.

    4) Friday evening practice session:- This is the best use case for a failed experiment. It doesn't help if the team members cannot lift their hands on the actual game day.

    5) Did you know – Our captain Niloy has been run out in every possible way – from starting too early at the non-striker end to the bowler deflecting the straight drive.
