Analysis Of Team Players

The performance of the team has been inconsistent, and the biggest blow was losing Vijay. He has been such an integral force for the team. Vijay we all miss you and hope to see you recharged after the long break .

I thought of coming up with something different this time rather than giving a match report. This is a summary of the performances by our team players this season.
Starting with the “WALL” of our team.

1)Abhisek: - We have found him in top 20 of Cricbay players, with more than 100 wickets and very near to 1000 runs. Cricbay is one of the elite groups that was recently created. He has been the leading run scorer and wicket taker this season for our team and has been the mainstay of the team. He has been very consistent up the order.

Against Super Heroes: - Played a brilliant inning of 20 and took 5 wickets. By far it has been one of his best performance.
Against Cheers CC Foster City: - He made his highest score of 35 from 49 deliveries and was not out the whole inning. He added 2 wickets to his tally as well.

No points for guessing…..he was the man of the match in both the games that he played

2)Bipin: - He has been in tremendous touch with some big scores. He has been caught behind the stumps twice and bowled twice. He could have easily converted these good scores to huge one’s but he lost it due to his temperament. After a start he lets it go.

It has been a treat to watch him bat. He got the highest number of 4’s and 6’s for the team. He has earned his opening spot by hard work and not drinking before the match. ;)

Against Gully Cricketers: - Played a very sensible inning of 15 that included a four and a six.
Against Extreme X1:- An inning of 12 with a huge Six.
Against Synergy CC: - He has played some good innings in past but for me that was his best inning. The way he ran b/w the wickets with Rahul, that was a vast improvement in his batting style. He made a sparkling 24 of 29 balls with two well timed four’s and a huge six over mid wicket.
Against HitnRun: - He threw away his wicket after making a solid 11 with a huge six.

CAPTAIN point to be noted …..He threw away his wicket because he had to go to meet someone.

3)Rahul: - Found of the series. The batsman our team was lacking. Not only he has the class but he is an awesome fielder. Only in his 4th inning and to be named man of the match for his batting performance is a rarity for Maharaja’s. Keep the good work going Rahul.

Against Synergy CC: - Though Buland stole the show but I haven’t seen a more fluent inning. The way Rahul executed the pulls and cut was just a treat to watch. He made a cracking 14 with a four.
Against HitnRun: - A match winning knock of 16 with a very well executed four in the gap.

4)Niloy: - One of the most prolific players in the Lineup. Sometime he goes in his shell which is self destructive for him. If he is aggressive he is also one of the best batsmen in cricbay. And not to mention about his fielding.

Against Super Heroes: - Played a marvelous inning of 20 from 22 balls.

5)Vikas: - Most Athletic and complete team player, struggling to find his rhythm with the ball…We know, form is temporary but class is permanent. He had some good innings under his pocket against Cheers CC of Foster City and Gully Cricketers with scores of 14 and 13 respectively. He is a match winner for us.

6)Rajesh: - I haven’t seen someone run the way he does. It’s so much difficult to match his aliveness and the way Vikas and Rajesh ran in the last match was just a delight. He did get his opportunity to prove himself but got tangled and was not able to perform. He has been underutilized but a smart move by our stand in captain for the game against Synergy CC. In the game against Synergy CC, he showed what a useful player he is.

Against Synergy CC: - Played a flamboyant inning of 15 from 20 deliveries. He played that inning at a point where our team always loses the impetus.

7)Sandeep: - He has had some good innings under his belt but now he would have to work his way out for his favorite opening slot. He is also a very useful bowler when the ball is thrown to him. He has just played 4 matches this season and had scored 56 runs, with 25 being his best against Super Hero’s. He failed against Monsters and we were not able to chase a mere total of 67.

Against Super Heroes: - Played a solid inning of 25 from 36 balls with a boundary to his name.
Against Cheers CC of Foster City: - Made a swash buckling 15 with a huge six. This inning was very important as we were chasing a total in excess of 85.

8)Buland: - The name says it all...Most wanted player in the team..Unsurpassed All-rounder ….marvelous bowler and an absolute match winner. His huge sixes are just too high-quality …..we have been wasting him down the order but it is a good decision to bring him up the order that gives him more time to settle. OOPS by settle I mean Power studded shots….He has been unavailable in most of the matches and has played only 3 innings.

Against Burlingame United: - Was not required to bat but he did the magic with his bowling. His bowling figure was 3 overs… 1 Maiden …5 Runs ….1 Wicket
Against Extreme X1:- He faced 2 deliveries ….the first one he faced was a boundary and the second one was caught on the boundary .It was a very close call.
Against synergy CC: - He was just rocking with a well made 21 of 24 deliveries. I know you guys are surprised about the number of balls he faced. He also took two wickets in the match.

HATS OFF TO YOU BULAND…

9)Amit: - One of the big hitters in the team, lately he has been struggling to find his form with the bat but he is a treat to watch when he is at his best. He has been bowling beautifully and the best part is that he hasn’t missed a game this season which is very rare.

Niloy you know what I am talking about ….”GARAGE SALE”We all hope to see Amit hitting those huge sixes ……..

10)Arpit: - He is also regarded as a big hitter but has not got the chance he has been looking for. He has good pace and can be very dangerous with his bowling.

11)Aizaz Bhai: - The way he plays his cricket at this age is a lesson to everyone. He is a great bowler and always there to give you advice. Most respected player in the team.

The way he bowled against Burlingame United was one of the best performance by a bowler for Maharaja’s. He just bowled 2.5 over’s to give away 4 runs and taking 4 crucial wicket. Out of the 4 runs he gave, 2 of them were wides.

12)Manish Sir: - He is the best keeper we have but has not been regular for the matches recently. He is just awesome behind the stumps. We missed you so much and especially me …….bcoz 6 catches were dropped of my bowling behind the stump in those 4 matches. Just kidding…. ;)

13)Himanshu: - In the absence of Manish Sir, he did a great job behind the stumps. It won’t be wrong to say if he is almost a copy of Manish Sir.

14)Anoop: - Got my 100th wicket against Extreme X1. Waiting for my chance to bat.

15)Shiva: - Has not been regular …….

16)Raj: - “HE GOT MARRIED RECENTLY”, that says it all………..so we don’t see him very often…..He doesn’t even get a chance to vote………. Kidding. We miss you RAJ

Nail bitting finish

Maharaja’s improved their chances of a semi-final berth with a nail bitter win against Nemesis. One of the closest battles in Maharaja’s history. It was a perfect weather to play cricket and when Maharaja’s are charged up there is no stopping. With just 3 games away from the final, everyone knew the importance of the game especially when we were missing some of the key players like Abhisek, Vikas, Manish and Raj. The win was largely set up by the bowlers, who did extremely well to clean them up for 69 by the 19th over in an open ground.

Nemesis won the toss and elected to bat. We got the first wicket in the 2nd over with Buland taking a very good catch of his own bowling with 7 on the board. They had a steady partnership of 30 for the 2nd wicket before Amit was brought back in 9th over to get the wicket. It was a right and left hand combination which really made it difficult for our bowlers. After 10 over’s score, read 41/2, they were in a commanding position. However, when we are pushed against the wall, that that brings the best in us.

Bipin was is some different mood today to prove a point that he can keep wickets and he did a tremendous job by taking 4 catches and 2 run outs. In 11th over they tried to scamper for a single but Bipin showed some agility ……YA BIPIN showed some agility …….(why are you guys so surprised????)……and effected a run out. Jokes apart......... it was a very crucial wicket as the batsman was well settled and we didn’t have to worry about left-right hand combination. In the same over he took a catch of Vijay’s bowling and suddenly from 41/2 they were 45/4. Aizaz Bhai bowled a very tight 12th over and we started to tighten the screw.

From 14th over onwards we got a wicket every over with Vijay and Buland leading the wickets column with 3 wickets a piece. Amit was very economical conceding 7 runs of his 4 overs.

It was our batting which has been a concerned area. It was no different today as we lost our first 3 wickets with score reading 10. Sandeep was caught in the very first over followed by Niloy, who played a cross batted shot and found his stump shattered. Niloy showed a lot of faith in Milind but he was not upto the mark as he had no application while playing the shot, he got out too. He has the class but he is not using it.

Rajesh and Buland had a 37 runs partnership with Buland being the aggressor. Buland seemed in a hurry, smacking 22 off 34 balls with a massive six over mid wicket.

After 10 over’s the score was 41/3.

We lost the momentum in the next 5 overs as the score read 52/5. Atul was again batting tremendously as he scored 15 of 22 with a beautiful straight drive for four. For me, that was the shot of the match. Vijay couldn’t show his power today but he is a class player. Bipin was sent at the fall of Vijay’s wicket and he played freely to score 6 of 10 deliveries.

We needed 16 of the last four when Atul played a straight drive for four which gave us 6 runs in that over and we needed 9 of last 3.

Bipin and Atul were quick between the wickets and they scored 5 of the next 9 deliveries. At the fall of Bipin’s wicket Amit walked in, with 4 required of last 9 balls and we had the match in our hand but this is Maharaja’s for you. Atul played a good square cut for 2 of the last delivery of 19th over and we were left with 2 more required of 6.
Amit took a single of the third delivery of 20th over and we needed 1 of 3 balls. The next 3 deliveries were dot and the match was a tie.

It was a super over through which the result had to be decided. I was given the responsibility from our side and I conceded 9 runs which was bad on my part.

We decided Vijay, Niloy and Amit will be batters from our side with Vijay and Niloy starting the proceeding.
The first ball bowled was a wide and the next ball Vijay played a thumping straight drive for one towards long off. Score read 1 ball 2 runs next ball was a dot ball and the third delivery was played towards square by Niloy and they were scampering for 2 but Niloy was caught short of the crease and the score read 3 of 3.

Amit came in and the first ball he faced was a perfect Yorker that resulted in a dot ball. We needed 7 of 2 deliveries……… the next ball Amit faced was put out of the fence with sheer power and the next ball took the outer edge over keepers head for four and we won the game in a dramatic fashion.

It was a very good team performance with Buland leading the way. Amit was also in good touch.

Guys lets make it this time as we just have two hurdles left. It would be great if everyone can make it for next two games.
